Playing with Google Pages

Recently Google launched its new Webhosting Service( Not exactly hosting ) Google Pages . The service provides you with Google Page Creator, which is a free online tool that makes it easy for anyone to create and publish useful, attractive web pages in just minutes.

As of now registration for the service is closed due to heavy demand. The registrations are open only some days which we cannot guess. I got lucky to register for the service, and I started playing with it today.

The interface is completely made of AJAX( so lovely) which makes accessing options very quick. You are provided with 100 MB of space and you can upload anything you want. Inside the page creator everything is just click and design, there is nothing you need to know technically to create webpages. You are provided with a number of layouts and designs to choose from. The layouts are fine with 2 piece, 3 piece and 4 piece layouts. The designs are not that good, many of them are very dull and look boring. Hope they add good designs in the future. You’re also provided with all the general options such as changing text size, text color, font, bold, italics, bullets, aligning…etc.

Apart from this the same auto save feature that is provided in Gmail is used here also, which makes using Google Page Creator more comfortable.

You can create as many pages as you want. The url of your website will be something like http://yourgmailusername.googlepages.com. Actually there is no seperate registration form for Google Pages, you’ve to just provide your gmail account and accept the Google Pages agreement. The url seems to be very big , instead of googlepages.com, they could have used a much shorter url like Gpages.com, 🙂

Anyways, the Google Page Creator is really amazing for just a Beta version, I’m sure there are a lot more features coming soon. BTW check out my site @ Google pages –> just 5 mins work 🙂 –> http://dlokesh.googlepages.com
