WordPress or Blogspot ?

with 2 comments

Remember about my tech blog @ Blogspot ? Well, I just created another tech blog at WordPress with the same content as of Blogspot. All that I can say is WordPress is really awesome and thats what pulled me from Blogspot. But I’m still in a dilemma whether to leave blogspot or not. Blogspot is also nice, but compared to wordpress it lacks many things.

In case you wanted to add some links to your sidebar in case of blogspot it really takes a lot of time, you’ve to edit(write HTML code) the template file in order to add links, whereas in case of WordPress its just a few clicks and it looks so professional. Though there are services like Blogroll, it still is not as user-friendly as WordPress.

One of the main things that kept WordPress users bothering was lack of javascript support, but I guess that wont be a problem anymore. WordPress has now started rolling out many new widgets such as RSS feeds widget, Text box widget, etc. This really is amazing work by andy.

So what keeps most of the blogspot users to stick with blospot ? I guess the main reason is Adsense. Lots of people are making money from their blogs with adsense ads in their blog. But blogging is not about making money, its about sharing your thoughts with millions and thats what wordpress is exactly helping at.

I think I’ll completely move onto WordPress unless Blogspot comes up with some new features. šŸ™‚

  1. I moved from blogspot to wordpress too. And I like it here šŸ™‚

Google Adsense shouldn’t be the reason for anyone to stay with blogspot because it can be used with any website, not just blogspot blogs.

  2. You are right, its not the only reason, but I was referring to people using blog hosting services – blogger and wordpress, not in general.
